4.3 compositor need a layer: VolumeBasic

Currently you can only get illuminated fog, but it seems that the unilluminated fog cannot be obtained in the compositor. Screenshot - 2024-09-24 15.11.46.jpg

or if you mean you don't want it to receive direct light, then you can use light linking:

you'll then need to use the volume indirect pass, otherwise it won't be visible at all

with the volume direct it'll just be black in that case:

thks to reply soo detail~ are you using cycles?

I want to implement these effects in the eevee renderer, but it looks like version 4.3 of the realtime compositor does not support separating the unilluminated parts from the volumetric fog in eevee mode.

That's in Cycles. I haven't tried compositing with EEVEE passes.

if you want unilluminated then the vol direct pass should work (but I may have misunderstood)

the volume emission is stored in the emission pass. Ignore the cache node, it's what Turbo Tools generates as a replacement for the render layer node (just so I can denoise all of the image passes and render faster)
