Give multi-cam rendering its own place in Blender.

The idea is simple, the work probably isn't.

The idea:

separate stereoscopic rendering from multi-camera rendering

Right now, to render a scene with multiple cameras all at once, you need to use the stereoscopy feature in blender. This adds a lot of confusion and needs to be addressed.

The proposed solution:

add a new separate menu called something like multi-cam rendering or batch rendering that allows the user to select which cameras from their scene will render on activation.

This could even be right under stereoscopy.

If you're unaware what stereoscopy is, it's the 3D movies that rely on the wearing the red/ blue glasses.

Multi-camera rendering, is used for many things but as an example: product photography. You could have 8 cameras in your scene and nothing else changes, you just need to render out a still or animation from all angles in full color. A completely different process and outcome.

I can provide experience and design but not coding to help this come about.

I also confirm the high value of that feature request. The current stereoscopic/multi-camera setup suffers from the inability to define a naming pattern, which prevents the cameras from being used separately.

How exactly do you define multi camera rendering?

At current state you can bind camera (or objects as camera) to a marker on the timeline by pressing ctrl + b, which basically results in multi cam rendering (only one at a time but many different one across the animation).

Also you can manually switch what camera the full scene uses in the scene tab under camera.
