Make dithering apply when saving individual images
This may not be by design, but images saved from the image viewer don't appear to respect the dither setting.
A final render with dithering will appear to be dithered in the image viewer, but upon saving it as (for example) an 8-bit-per-channel PNG, the dithering is not present in the output image.
It's not just the disconnect between the expected behavior and the result that's annoying, but also the fact that there's no simple way to save single-frame renders straight out of Blender with dithering. I find myself adding noise in the compositor manually or saving to high bit depth formats like EXR and downsampling them in third-party software.

- Left: Expected
- Right: Actual result

If possible, could you share a couple images to show the difference between what you expect and what you're getting? As it stands, I'm not sure if this is more of a feature proposal or a bug report.
@Jason van Gumster: Updated. I tried to make it more pretty but RCS' markdown seems to be particularly broken today...
EDIT: It does seem like a bug report, but I'm convinced this was (at some point) the intended behavior since dithering works when outputting images with the actual output settings instead of just saving from the image viewer.
I'm making the suggestion that it should work from the image viewer as well because, in a practical WYSIWYG workflow, what gets saved should be identical to what is seen.
