Option to remove creases when applying Subdivision Modifier (also ignores them in subsequent modifiers)

The title says it all. I like to use the subdivision modifier with a couple of levels of subdivisions to maintain the shape, then I would like to stack another subdivision modifier that smooths the geometry resulting from the first Subdivision modifier.

Currently, such a workflow requires applying the first subdivision modifier, then disabling the creasing on the edges manually.

If it's not possible to add this feature to the subdivion modifier, Maybe it is possible to add a new modifier that allows to delete creases when applied or to ignore them in modifiers below? with the option to accept a vertex group that modifies the levels of creasing based on weight.

That would be awesome!

I would rather have an option in subdivision modifiers to toggle using crease.

Or even better: implement edge and face groups, and the possibility to use them in subdiv modifier as crease.

There's a 'Use Creases' option in the Subdivision Surface. Would this not work?

I'm aware of this but dumb me was confused with the crease value being null at "-1" instead of zero. Nevertheless, this still doesn't give full control over individual edges. If an option to use creases of certain vertex groups is added, then that would provide a lot more control, but I'm not sure if that's feasible.

Gotcha
