Multi object texture drawing
Ah, I suddenly realized that Blender cannot perform multi object texture drawing. We can enter editing mode with multiple objects to edit the grid, but we cannot select multiple objects for texture drawing. We can only continuously enter and exit object mode and texture mode. I hope to add a multi object drawing function so that we don't have to frequently switch between object mode and texture mode in different meshs

Turn off 'Lock Object Modes' in the header Edit menu. You can then set each object to Texture Paint and then paint on each provided you select each before delivering the brush stroke as Blender needs to know which image to deliver the stroke to. Old school way was to have the objects share a common image texture mapped to UV that was derived from joining them temporarily and moving their UV to fit the image like an atlas, and then splitting them back up after.
Thank you, I tried it but it doesn't seem to work? Because even if I turn off the lock object mode, every time I want to select another object (selected in the outline view because objects cannot be selected in texture mode), it does not stay in texture drawing mode, but jumps back directly to object mode. I feel like this should be a bug, so now I am currently unable to select in the view, I can only choose another object in outline mode and then press tab to enter texture drawing mode. The workflow is actually not simplified much.
Are you using LMB select? I use RMB select and am able to select the objects in Texture Paint mode with selection by rmb press, and paint with lmb press. I select the first object in Object mode, tab pie to Texture Paint mode and then select the second object and it does start in Object mode, but then I tab pie to Texture Paint there and then I can select either and remain in Texture Paint mode. I will have to try LMB selection preference to see how that works, perhaps you need to use a modifier key there to select the objects after being in Texture Paint. Ugh, I tried Shift-LMB to select the second object and I am at an impasse. I do think this is a bug of some kind here.
I filed a bug report, and I will see what happens. Perhaps my ignorance is at fault here. projects.blender.org/blender/blender/issues/129273
Should left clicking and right clicking be the same? It is impossible to select objects in texture drawing mode
Uh huh, actually it would be best if we could draw multiple objects, and the process would be the most simplified
I don't follow. RMB select has been in use since the beginning of Traces on the Amiga, later becoming Blender. LMB Select as Default came in the 2.5 series, and I have been oblivious to the problem you are having due to the fact I still use RMB as my selection. I definitely select in Texture Paint all the time because I also make a lot of use of vertex groups for Face Select Masking in Texture paint. The need for there to be consistency means that they just need to make sure that LMB plus a modifier key works to select the active object while two or more are in the same mode. Same goes for Sculpt mode as well, I do it all the time.
Bug report was invalid because I didn't test with factory defaults. If using defaults with Blender keymap and LMB select, once both objects are in Texture Paint mode then it is just Alt-LMB to select each to switch active status for paint.
You can actually. Make sure that each object is not sharing the same material or the same texture for this to work. Make a collection holding your original objects. Make copies of the originals and then put them in a new collection. Disable the original collection so you are only dealing with the new ones. Join them together as one Atlas Object with Ctrl-J. Switch to Texture Paint mode and then you can paint across the whole of the combined objects, and the results then are delivered to the originals in the original collection. Save your work before closing though, and you can disable that atlas collection but keep it for later if you want to adjust the painting session again.
Here, I cobbled us up a hack addon to make the painting easier as you described, select more than one mesh object that has independent image textures and press the button in the Paint Proxies panel under the Paint tab in the side bar of the 3d view. It pushes a copy of the originals to a new proxies collection that you can instantly paint to and the result goes to the objects hidden in the Original Selection collection. github.com/artistCDMJ/PaintProxies
thank you! It was very helpful, I tried again, and right clicking and selecting it was normal for a while, but after a while, there was a problem. What if there were too many objects? By default, when left clicking and pressing alt+click to switch grids in texture drawing mode, it is the same. I tested three objects, so when switching, the third object may not be able to stay in texture drawing mode, but directly return to object mode. Moreover, sometimes when the default left button is pressed instead of alt+left button, it will inexplicably enter texture drawing mode. In short, there is a problem. This bug occurs from time to time, so I will test it again
Sorry, my English is useless and I may not understand it very well. I am even more confused about how to use the plugin you mentioned. I can use the method you mentioned (painting after merging with Ctrl+J), but for the others, I just need to share the same material, otherwise there will be too many materials that are difficult to control. Moreover, I don't want to merge objects with Ctrl+J for some meshes, otherwise even if they are merged, I will have to split them up later. Moreover, the functionality you mentioned is too advanced, and I won't be able to transfer the texture of the merged object to the original object. Can a merged object represent an unmerged object? I'm a bit confused, I'm still a novice and don't know this advanced feature yet. Sorry!!!
No problem, let me try to help make sense of it. The addon is installed as a legacy addon by choosing to install from the addon tab in the user preferences using the zip file from the github. Once that is installed, then the prerequisites are that each object has its own image texture to paint on and that you are selecting more than one object. The addon button is in the Paint tab of the N Panel sidebar, and is only available when selecting more than one mesh.
The original selection is stored in a collection marked 'original selection' and those objects do not join together; they remain independent objects but are hidden from view. The new joined object made from the copy of the original selection is stored in a new collection called 'paint proxies' and is set to Texture Paint mode immediately to allow painting right away. On this new object, the paint stroke across both is fluid and much easier, but you can then switch back to the original selection collection and see that the paint is delivered to the original objects without changing materials to anything destructive to your original selection. I will try to make a video later this morning to add to this, but I hope that you find it helpful enough to ease your painting process.
You can delete the paint proxies object and collection and start all over with a different selection of objects and repeat the process - but remember to save your images before closing Blender.

Hello, I did use a plugin to draw multiple objects, but I don't want multiple proxy files, and after creating a proxy, multiple objects are automatically merged into one object? Then I need to continue splitting later. I want to be able to draw different colors for multiple objects, but I can also change the color of one object separately in the future, because I don't want to paint the color of one object separately on another object. I think it's better to draw multiple objects in a non-destructive way like a simulator, because I don't just draw it once, I need to refine it later.Actually, my original intention was to fill multiple different objects (I don't want them to merge) with the same color directly in texture drawing mode, so that I don't have to fill each object with the same color one by one. However, currently BL cannot achieve this function. Even if I hold down Alt+click to switch objects one by one in texture drawing, it is not multi object drawing, it is just smoother when switching. At present, it is not possible to enter texture drawing after selecting multiple objects, as it directly fails. Oh, by the way, I know a new method that can also be considered as a quick switch between texture modes? In addition to alt+clicking to switch objects (which often fails and has bugs), we can also click on the small dots in front of the outline view, so that the selected objects can directly enter texture drawing mode. I have tested this and it is not a problem,
If you create a proxy to paint with, it is fine to delete it - the originals are getting the paint, too, and do not need to be joined themselves as well, only the proxies. Delete all the proxies after you are done. In the addon I made, the originals are independently saved and hidden so the proxy mesh is capable of being painted without having to 'select each and change to texture paint'. I don't use the method of entering texture paint after each selection now that I made this operator, as all I need to do is select the lot of them in Object mode and press the operator to create the proxy.
Is that so? Okay, I'm very cautious about deletion operations, so I said why can't I find the original object? Let me give it a try,
Why can't I suddenly click to create a painting agent? I downloaded the latest 4.3 beta but it still doesn't work. Can you check if your computer is working properly?
The originals are in a collection that is hidden, you can unhide it. I show this in the video I shared. I am on 4.2 for now because 4.3 is bug ridden still while they work out the issues with the brushes as assets.
