There is currently no way to move an object to a particular absolute location that's relative to some of its vertices
Let me give you an example. Let's say you have a mesh hovering above the XY plane. How would you move it so that it rests on the ground? I know there are many ways to do it, but they're all kind of dirty compared to what could be possible (and useful). You can use the 3D cursor, geometry nodes to calculate the bounding box, you could create a plane and then snap to it, etc.
But the cleanest solution (and useful in general) would be the following worklfow: Press G -> press B -> select a vertex as you would when snapping -> Press Something -> (optionally press X/Y/Z) > set the new absolute location of that vertex -> Enter. The entire mesh is moved so that the new absolute location of the chosen vertex is respected.
Putting the mesh to rest on the ground would boil down to this: press G > press B > press Something > press Z > press 0 > Enter.
The "Something" would be a keybinding for the action I'm proposing, and pressing Z would specify that we're setting the Z coordinate (as in other actions). I'm only not sure how exactly should it work if no axis is specified. Maybe a popup (in the lower left corner) that takes coordinats as inputs?

I use an addon called GZ Pivot, which quickly puts the origin in sensible places. Makes putting things on the ground a trivial fast thing, with none of the 3d cursor nonsense.
Technically, what you ask is already there. Select a bunch of vertices, go in the Sidebar > Item panel, you can set the transform to Global and type in the coordinates you want.
But there is a catch: this tool's transform is always made from the median point of the selection, regardless of the Transform Pivot Point being used.
If this tool could be updated to take it into account, you could set a bottom vertex as active, set your Transform Pivot Point to active, and move that cube to the ground easily:
Well then, technically, what I ask for is not there :)
But I agree, an update like the one you proposed would solve the issue.
