Netiquette + Good is better
Netiquette + Good is better
On Rightclickselect there are people who:
-
I never use what you use Therefore, in my opinion, it is not necessary that it has to be in blender.
-
It's bad because blablabla!
-
It's too time-consuming because blablabla!
-
I've read many times that negative + negative + negative blah blah blah!
-
Nobody needs this !!!
How about:
-
I never use that. Never thought about it. If I were to use it as often as you do, then I can imagine that it would make my work easier.
-
It could be difficult that this will soon be in blender.
-
I like the workflow. Your desired solution should be in a different location in the UI. Personally, however, I don't have a better idea.
-
Maybe we could find someone who can solve this problem with a free addon for our community?
-
I have read here (Link) and here (Link) that this area of blender could possibly lead to a solution.
After thinking more carefully, I can now imagine that I would use it if it existed.
Thanks for sharing your idea here, blah blah blah
And? What do you mean?

It always place for discussion and arguments. Users may arguing against something - user don't want software he like become something he may not like just because somene asked for this... If you can't defend your position with strong arguments - maybe this position is not right way in general (it good for you, not for others). Empty argument like "Nobody needs this !!!" will always lose 100% if you have strong opposite arguments.
What you propose instead is to be tolerant to any bullshit, patient in any case and spoke about only "good things" by using only "good words"... You know what, we already had now first biological man with testicles in women's competitions at the Olympics. And world jsut stay silent - no boycott, no nothing, no one call it bullshit from the high rostrum. Let's keep etiquette and spoke about good things by good words...
Sometimes bullshit has to be called bullshit.
There's a report button if you feel that something is particularly egregious. I agree with you that some members of RCS can be rude, make other people feel dumb, or are just abrasive in general when someone's proposal doesn't fit their use case. This has become reinforced of late and there are some that could benefit from taking a step back from being a constant presence on the site. With more people at home due to the pandemic there is bound to be more people here, and some of those people won't play well with others.
Unfortunately I get the feeling that some users believe they "own" RCS and must berate everyone that miss-steps. This is not encouraging to new users and is a common phenomenon on any public forum.
Nonetheless this isn't a proposal and doesn't resolve anything, it's just telling people to be nicer. I respect that but it would be more productive to provide a solution: maybe stronger moderation policies, rule changes, comment limits, whatever. By all means please propose any changes that you think would help improve netiquette.
Are you trying to educate people for a more polite (more how you would prefer it) way of talking on a forum for proposing ideas to make changes to the software? I'd advise preaching that on social media. "blablabla" isn't always some gibberish as you may see it, many times it is solid counter argument to the proposed idea too. This IS the place to discuss ideas, and those that get most upvotes (including likes on comments) and supported by devs are the most likely to succeed. If an idea is dumb or counterproductive it will be called out as such.
I agree that exist some egoism as professionals Blender users that know bether due know this all from 10 or more years, they have their habits and own vision, blocking new ideas or philosophy. Also limiting some ideas is good to burn prioritized functions and features. I think more problems around RCS from repeating ideas and not assigned in road map or excluded due exist independent system around task to implementation, repair/fix and more focus around bugs. Users want sometimes quality around GUI, and devs are more focused around correct working key functions. Any new that are still not stable or in work to repair doing situation that no more features :D (also isolation is good in some cases) The user idea not always is the golden idea, simple and isolated from the devs plans. I often reading that "they planing" or was discuss about, but not all spying this and it's hard job to be on time. It's information policy and organization around. Some of RCS users are tired if ideas are repeated.. I believe that.. and somebody need watching this. I think that idea submitted and author must defend the idea, but must understand the role of discuss about
It's sounds like "automatize" some opinions not only like up/dn vote, also tags "idea was", "not need", "to hard", "out of needs" or something.
I'm not sure what your proposal is here. I understand that you point out some people lack the netiquette you wish to take place here, but what do you want to do about it?
Likewise, I myself try to remain within my standards of netiquette and sugarcoating when possible. But that is only on my end, I am not always able to stay inline, I even sometimes think I have to be more incisive in specific cases.
In addition, not everyone even understands or agrees on the principle itself. I know, from my experience, there are a lot of people on the Internet whose culture is really foreign to this. That's a cultural shock that makes it hard to actively enforce this kind of principles.
And at the end of the day, no matter the subject, I will not refrain myself from voicing my opinion about it, whether it is positive or negative or neutral.
I might be wrong in my exposition, but I will explain my point, people are free to exchange arguments with it, and I'd gladly considerate their words. But I will not pretend like everything's fine here just to not foil people's mood.
And, I expect my posts to be treated the same way. And I will try to see the arguments and facts behind the messages, no matter the phrasing.
