Extrude node sockets with the (e) key.
In the same way that edges can be extruded from a vertex by pressing (e), it would be good to do the same with node sockets and from reroutes. In this way I think it would be faster to make wiring.

How do you chose which socket is extruded?
With cursor over socket or adding the concept of active socket. For reroute there is no problem because it can already be selected.
Current system is a simple two-step done with one button:
What you propose requires to use at leas both the keyboard an mouse, and doubles the steps:
True, wha I proposed is requires to use at least both the keyboard an mouse, and four steps:
1· Select or Hover
2· hit E
3· move cursor
4· validate with ⏎ Enter or 🖱 LMB
but either something escapes me or currently it is not as simple as
1· 🖱 LMB drag
2· 🖱 LMB release
At least in the latest version I have to write (r) in the floating menu and select reroute from the list of actions. So I have not thought about it until now, and it is not bad.
You are partly right and I think the best would be:
1· 🖱 LMB drag to start a wire.
2· hit E for add a reroute.
3· connect to an input socket or 🖱 LMB release for end in last reroute.
Thanks for the contribution, and as I said, your method doesn't work for me, I don't know if I'm doing something wrong. Usually jo split the wires with Shift + RMB and then move the reroutes with G.
So that's a different thing from what you described in your original post. You want to create reroutes on the fly when dragging a noodle.
That would sound good indeed!
In the meantime, I have good news for you: you can do exactly that with B3D's pay-whay-you-want Noodler addon :
(and many other stuff, just check this addon it's gold)
Pure gold XD.
Yes this addon does what I asked for, even better and also has other super useful functions, a real gem, it should come standard.
Thanks again.
ha i sometimes do this accidently and wonder why it doesn't work. great idea
