Keep the lights on in local view and in all layers/collections

Hi everyone,

The collection system is a blessing, and everything is logical; but as I switch between my main collection through numbers (1,2,3,…) in rendered mode, or when I switch to local view (/), or hide the rest of the scene (Shift+H), I always end up with this light-off effect that forces me to switch the light back on.

I understand why it is difficult to avoid in local view and Shift+H view, although I’d really like to have an option therefore; and I chose to put the lights in the main collection to keep them on when I switch between the main layers.

As the rendered view becomes available as a working environment in Eevee; finding a way to extract the lights from the visibility matters would be very handy.

My eternal gratitude to the problem solver, if born he/she is.

this is something I miss from the 2.7x days- having local mode not disable lights. I understand why the change was made, but it would be nice if the local mode operator had an option to leave lights turned on while hiding their representative viewport objects.

Currently, a solution is to link lights collections into all meshes collections. Drag and Drop with Ctrl key enabled. At that moment, pressing 1,2,3 will not change lighting.

But that does not solve local view problem.

* @Ronan Ducluzeau * or to put them in the main collection. it's a bit 'Mac Gyver' but also does the job for the collection switching.

Now that collections have an actual tab for themselves in the properties panel, perhaps they can add an option in there to "always show this collection in local views" and we can turn that on for all our collections that contain lights (or anything else).

I'm wondering if a workaround can be to dupli-link the lights to another scene and set that scene as the background scene of the main scene?

* @thinsoldier * For the render, probably, but this kind of compositing will not appear in the 3D view, afaik.
