Light include/exclude list

I do a lot of interior renderings and coming from corona (and previously vray) to cycles I found out that it is rather time consuming to control lighting of individual objects (through render layers and compositing).

Sometimes I need to tweak lighting/reflection on object that seems flat or uninteresting in it's natural light. So taking a plane/area light and using include only option would allow to quickly add some gradients and so on.

Using render layers+compositing is really slow for this purpose so having include only/exclude only list per light as an option would be really great.

@: Yes, light linking is addressed by Tangent Animation and is a target for 2.8.

I did not understand what that include/exclude list is doing. If it's just about enabling or disabling lights for render, you can do that easily from the outliner already. That coupled with Blender 2.8 collections system, it will be really easy to assign objects to a "light" collection and assign some of them to other collections you might want to be enabled/disabled at some point.

@loic.dautry: Well it's about making a certain light only affect a single object. If collections in 2.8 will allow this without the need to make separate renders and compositing, then great, but i'm not sure can't use 2.8 right now, too risky.

@000kitbash: I think I understand now. But sadly, I don't remember about such thing in 2.8.

You should explain that more clearly in your original post. And in order to get more chances to get developers on that, you should also try to provide explanations and mockups of how this could be integrated in Blender.

@loic.dautry: Alright then, I will do that as soon as I get more time.
