shift click any parameter contained in a node group to expose it as a node group input.

shift click any parameter in a node group to expose it as a node group input. Make it rapid to create bespoke nodes, and make it possible to control paramters that don't currently have a node input set up, such as the mapping node's location, rotation and scale parameters, and the image texture's file dropdown.

Not only for input. nodes output could be exposed as node group output as well.

My current workaround for the mapping node is to create vector-math groups that do those things individually. It's less than ideal, but possibly more efficient.

I want the color ramp to be node-controlled so, so badly.

* @Josephbburg * You can actually control the colour ramp from the group's UI using drivers.

  1. Create group with two float sliders
  2. add a ramp inside the group
  3. close the group
  4. right click on one of the float sliders and choose copy as new driver
  5. go back into the group and click the left slider of the colour ramp
  6. right click on the pos input and choose paste driver
  7. repeat 5 and 6 for the right slider (other sliders)

Warning, it will create a cyclic dependancy, but works perfectly. If it does cause any problems for you down the line, then remove the drivers via the outliner's data api mode.

it might be in context menu aswell

inability to expose parameters makes grouping way less useful
