Toggle to show/hide areas
The ability to show/hide areas using a toggle will improve space efficiency. Currently, the only option is to manually resize areas to their minimum and back again.

Ctrl-Up Arrow will toggle maximum view of the editor you are in, is that something like what you are asking for or is it entirely different?
Just FYI that keybind only exists in the Blender 2.7 keymap, not the standard Blender keymap or the Industry keymap.
For those other keymaps the user needs to add
screen.screen_full_areainto the Screen > Screen (Global) keymap category.Huh, that is a good catch - stuff like that always seems to me to be a given that it is in all the keymaps since it is a non-standard. Other software use a different key like F or Tab to go full screen and return.
