Add modifier in "Disabled" state.

Sometimes when working on a complex model, you might want to add a modifier (subdiv, skin, ... ), but adding the modifier with its default settings on such a complex mesh takes forever to load or crashes blender.

What I propose is to have a shortcut that adds the modifier but with its viewport display turned to off so you can tweak the settings before turning it on. I could be a simple "Shift+click" on the modifier.

Ctrl\Shift Click to add modifier in off-state would be awesome and shift PgUp\PgDown (Alt\Shift + MouseWheel) to control individual modifier position in a stack

Perhaps a better option would be to not lock the UI when a modifier hangs, and allow the user to interrupt the calculation by disabling it.

I think this would be a more universal solution, as there are multiple other areas that can cause Blender to hang by pressing a wrong button on a complex scene, and being able to "Oh shit > Undo," would be a great feature.

Instead of having another new hidden functionality and shortcut, I think it could be possible to divide the modifier selector drop menu item buttons with the area where you click to add the modifier in a normal way and then on the right side there would be that small "add disabled" -button with a good self explanatory icon.
