Speed Subdivision
Currently, in blender we can Subdivide by right-clicking the viewport and hitting Subdivide. Ok, If we want to add more subdivisions we can a) repeat the process or b) going to the alter last menu on the bottom left of the viewport, clicking to maximize if minimized scroll the mouse or type in the actual number, and then if we want we have to manually smooth the topology.
Sure It's not terrible workflow but part of the fun of blender is being able to change things on the go instead of having to go to menus and change values all around (but still being able to... if for some reason you prefer...). Having used Hard Ops a bit I realised that having the option to differently clicking certain things in the menus can be extremely fast, confortable and easy, so maybe if we could shift + click the subdivide instead we could than drag the mouse or scroll wheel to raise or lower the subdiv amount (like we do with bevels) or alt+click subdivide If we want to also smooth vertices, maybe shift+Alt+Click it if we want both.
The old ways do not need to go though, but being able to do it even faster and easier is always wonderful, specially since the software seems to be so oriented for faster workflow than other programs.

the first time you accidentally scroll your mousewheel into a subdivision that locks up Blender for eternity, you'll realize why it's not on a scroll wheel
That is a matter of sensitivety and well-implemention. Works fine for Bevel for example.
Bevel doesn't quadruple your mesh's geometry each time you bump your mouse wheel. And yes- I agree, well-implementation is key (which they have already done by purposefully not including it)
Maya already does it. I don't see the problem of doing just that here. If you have smooth enough implementation and a user that won't scroll like a maniac so...
