CAD in Blender (CAD Sketcher Add-On)

Hi, I would like to ask when Blender can develop some features like the CAD Sketcher plugin that allow to use CAD tools like making lines, arcs, rectangle, etc and maybe in long term develop by implement and expand in CAD/CAM becoming also CAD software.

Here is the link of the plugin, as possible idea for Blender Foundation CAD-Sketcher-In-Action-Second-Step.png CAD-Sketcher-In-Action.png

The Cad tools in the screenshots look very not Blender like. I don't think what is displayed there fits into the current Blender design. It looks messy.

Blender being able to draw arcs would be lovely. They would be edges "under the hood", but displayed as arcs to the user. Also, dimension marking tools - are absolutely useful.

What blender needs is a lot of attention to precision Everything should focus on being precise first. There needs to be huge improvements to snapping options, as these are currently very lacking.

Good point of view

I think that only the basic tools for sketching are needed; simply because there are some super basic shapes like the one showed above that can't be currently achieved, assuming you want it geometrically correct; otherwise you can only either approximate it or make it in a CAD software. All the part of converting in mesh of this addon is overkill

yeah the conversion to mesh and also to bezier is really good

Thank you, but I meant it is unnecessary; actually, we just need a way achieve these results with curves, then you can use them as you want

While I've no doubt that Blender supporting more CAD orientated tools without the aid of an addon would be beneficial to a few I fear Blender is becoming a "Jack of all trades, master of none". Can you imagine if Adobe crammed all the features of their Creative Suite into one application? (Waiting for the "that would be awesome!" comments! 🤣🤣)

I agree with you, I think it's better to have maybe one or two features that beat competition for Blender Foundation, but cover all topic can be confusing, but if they increase some features more than other can be a best choice for some niche

The fact that blender is a swiss army knife IS the awesome thing about blender. The convenience of not having to jump around between apps speeds up work and is very convenient. Many apps may be better at their one thing they can do featurewise, but I'd take this convenience over rarely used unnecessary features any time...
