Texture displacement map in real-time

Hello,

I propose to add to Blender feature: In Eevee and Cycles, I want to use the Displace Modifier to texture painting the displacement map and see the results in viewport immediately.

Now automatically update is impossible.

When I use the Displace Modifier, in both cases, Blender doesn't update automatically viewport. I need to click any settings in Modifier Properties or Texture Properties. After that all ok.

Displacement Node (Cycles) situation is the same, Blender doesn't update automatically viewport. I need to click any settings in the Image Texture Node. After that all ok.

It is not comfortable.

I think this feature will be useful to all.

Modifiers in Blender are computed on the CPU, which often is much too slow for real time tasks. Computing modifiers in real time is a very tough task for any PC - your mesh would have to be very simple to get usable frame rates -- for example, try spamming the 'Realtime' button on the modifier. I don't think this particular feature would be very practical unless all modifier computation is accelerated on the graphics card.

* @Marcus Richter * can the modifier use GPU or better CPU and GPU?

Vyach

* @JuB * only those, who do some iterative predictable work and result. Like subdivision and procedural deformation. GPUs developed to calculate simple tasks but in big bunches

yes ! i've already used this technique and i'd sure love to see this in real time !
