Copy, then paste at cursor

As an architect, working on some bigger scenes, sometimes I have to copy an object from one project and paste it to another. Problems with that is that it only pastes to the original location, and then I have to find it somewhere in the scene. Pasting at the original location may be useful, but more often then not, I want to paste it instantly where I want it - At the cursor.

The fact that the pasted object doesn't become active doesn't help.
