Snapping to Grid Does not Snap to Grid

So the problem comes when you would like to change the Minor Grid Segment amount and then use the Snap to Grid feature. The Increments do NOT match the grid spacing setting. The grid snapping and measurement system should work without having to do a work around. I made a post earlier but for some reason posts do not publish after making an edit on them.

Grid subdivisions don't do anything when your units are set to Metric or Imperial. That's why the field is grayed out. When using a type of unit, the grid is set based on the unit system. Metric is always 10, while imperial is 3>12 for feet in a yard and inches in a foot. You can only set the subdivisions when your units are None.

I don't think Unit Scale is meant for what you seem to be trying to use it for.

Also, the issue only seems to be with scaling. Moving works fine for me.

This doesn't really seem like a feature proposal to me. Seems more like a bug, so maybe post on the bug tracker

Done, thanks.

Even though the grid subdivisions setting is greyed out, they do show up when you are in one of the coaxial viewpoints like front or right.
It was mentioned in a proposal recently which its author deleted, but maybe this subdivision being greyed out and invisible depending on the viewpoint shouldn't be a thing. Not depending on the unit.

And yes, changing the unit doesn't affect the grid. It will just change what unit corresponds to Blender's 1 unit, and it's only a display. Like it will be the same size no mater the unit and scale when you export a model.

@-L0Lock- Yes, you can see grid subdivisions when in front or right, but the grayed out subdivisions field doesn't do anything when changed right? Sorry, but I don't really understand your point.

Are you saying the user should be able to change the subdivisions when using unit systems? I could get behind that, although it might get interesting for imperial which has different subdivisions depending on the zoom level haha.

Or are you saying the grid subdivisions should be visible in perspective modes? I could see that as an option, although I think I'd rather not have even more lines on my screen covering my model. Plus, when the view is in perspective, using a grid accurately would be difficult anyway, since anything that isn't at 0 Z would have its position relative to the grid distorted by the perspective. I feel like if you really want to use the grid, just go to one of the ortho views

Snapping increment grid is controlled by this setting:

Why overlay one instead of scene unit? I don't know 🤷

Awesome. More work arounds, Seems to be a popular theme around these parts :)

So this issue has been addressed by the Devs and it is said that they will be reworking the snapping system in the near future
