Curve Shrinkfatten (Alt + S) scale edit mode simplification

Hello,

I came across this tutorial for making stylized hair that I enjoyed!

youtube.com/watch

However, it brought to my attention the Alt + S (shrink/fatten) shortcut that some how i have never heard of throughout the 6-ish years I've been using blender.

It seems like it might be good to just have a setting where it auto detects if you have one vert selected to then enter the shrink/fatten scale mode automatically when you scale (I use Gizmos and simplified controls because the default hand positions for Blender literally makes my hands cramp up and I'm constantly fighting against carpal tunnel).

It seems like an extra hot key that might not be so necessary.

Just a thought though.

Thanks

I got the idea, but it's still two different tools. However, you can write a simple script and assign a hotkey to it. All it will do is count the selected points and select the tool. My script for simple deletion works exactly like this. You can take an example and change a couple of lines. github.com/Borschberry/Just_Delete-Addon

* @ Vyacheslav * oh ya! i've been watching those and trying to learn from them. It's not going great for me so far. But I should be able to understand enough to make this work!

There's a similar odd shortcut that seems to only exist for use with the Skin Modifier that does exactly the same thing for polygon verts that alt+s does for curve points.

For curves, scaling already does a useful task for adjusting handles, but maybe holding alt while scaling can do the same as the standalone alt+s
