Workspaces SHOULD include INTERACTIVE MODE-READY tools

About the UI workspaces: Currently when I create a "duplicate current workspace layout" and then I modify it to my customized menus and items, the workspaces don´t save anything. As a matter of fact, the UI should save the INTERACTIVE MODES for the workspaces. For example: I have 1 tab with my "general" tab and tool settings, but if I switch to my "SCULPT WORKSPACE" the INTERACTIVE MODE should also be saved in the workspace, that way we can switch tabs (like the browser) and have the entire UI customized with the tools READY to work into that INTERACTIVE MODE. I can create another tab exclusively for TEXTURE painting, PLUS WEIGHT MODES . So when I switch to that tab, the INTERACTIVE MODE and the WORKSPACE are ready to start working. Without that, the call for workspaces LOOSES it´s original intent. Please make these features available. Thanks.

This idea was thrown around before but quickly lost ground. The problem with that logic is that working on a specific task does not just include one mode.

Sculpting: Mostly Sculpt mode, object mode for switching between objects and doing any other task that is not strictly sculpting but sculpting related and edit mode for making fine modeling tweaks, shifting things around in multires etc etc.

Texturing: A lot of Texture Paint Mode for the painting, vertex paint for quick masks and more, edit mode for editing UVs, Object mode for selecting different objects or adjusting light setups.

Weight Painting???: You mean rigging, grooming, particles, set dressing? When is weight painting required to have it's very own workspace? That mode pretty much comes always coupled with at least 2 other modes for any task.

I would rather have few workspaces for my current asset/project instead of at least one for every mode available and constantly having to switch between them. That way the workspaces don't help but just make work more tedious.

@julien.kaspar: Modo has it´s own space for doing all you mentioned (weight, particle hair, etc..)on a dedicated workspace.

I'm not familar with Modo but making a workspace for these tasks is a good idea. The automatic switching to a mode is just what makes no sense in Blender.

How about trying to make your proposal without all the screaming?

You did this one? My only concern is.. when you go to video editing.. what mode would that switch into? I guess you could add a "lock" icon on the mode so it sticks to the tab.
