Can you be more specific? Do you mean face normals or all? By "Control" do you mean direction, or the rotation of normals in Edges and Vertices?

There is some individual control already (Flip selected faces).

What additional features do you want?

@ammusionist: what i mean is the ability to control the direction of the each normal manually

It would be really helpful if you could describe how you want this to work in Blender's interface rather than pointing to another application and saying, "do it like this."

artturi85

How do you control normals in 3ds max? I didn't get what the idea is about.

@Artturi Mäntysaari: I even thought he meant face normals that's why I made those gifs. It remains a mystery until he speaks up. :D

@luisburdallo: With the edit normals modifier, you can adjust the normals individually. This is an extremely handy tool for game dev and other low poly meshes.

Edit Normals

@Craig Jones: Agreed. But, and I'm just making assumptions about what software azizi6448 has on his computer here, if you don't own 3ds Max, you can't make animated gifs of the interface. Probably not worth $3500 just to get your point across on RightClickSelect.com .

As blender stands right now, this would probably have to be a new mode in the 3d view or a there would need to be a new normals subobject type added to edit mode. Otherwise, if I'm not mistaken, the ability to have editable gizmos in modifiers would need to be added.

Edit: Come to think of it, 3ds Max isn't worth $3500 no matter what you're using it for.

@luisburdallo: Very cool. It looks like blend4web is doing it as a mesh operator. That should be a built in feature.

Luis.Burdallo

@dpdpforlife: I've downloaded the free addon for its weighted normals function and never had to use the normal manipulator but it seems like a great tool to have anyway. Maybe it should be a built-in feature as you never know until when the tool will be supported or developed. Not even sure if it will work for 2.8 tho.

dpdpforlife

@Craig Jones: You're probably right. Not a lot of effort went into making this proposal, but it's a great feature that should get some recognition. Maybe I'll do my own version at some point.

Luis.Burdallo

@dpdpforlife: Yes a good proposal presentation is vital. Most people probably didn't even understand what was this about. I didn't in the beginning and I knew the tool but I was confused. Not that I need that exact feature in my workflow but I can see it can be useful for some people so it won't hurt to upvote it. Will definitely upvote if anyone makes a proper proposal.

@dpdpforlife: wow ok this is what i meant.. can blender do it? if can.. i really need to learn that.. its super useful to me

dpdpforlife

@azizi6448: It looks like this functionality is built into blend4web, but not blender itself. It's a pain to have to download an addon that is 14x the size of blender just to use this one function, but right now that's the only option. Blender needs this natively.

@dpdpforlife: The addon is 4 MB. Scroll down. Where it says Blender Addon. blend4web.com/en/downloads/
