Outliner item counter
Outliner significantly need counter of selected items. When you working in a big file with big amount, for example, of actions you should to count it by yourself!

Total number and selected number of items showing in status bar or file browser, asset browser and all listed place. blender.community/c/rightclickselect/Exo4/
Both in the status bar and in the 3D viewport you can activate "Scene Statistics". Not in the Outliner, but I think is what you are looking for?
I think that status bar can be bather place, and should exist some function to place own info there like =bpy.some_paramater_value + "my test"
And... in scene statistics you can see count of actions, textures, brushes? Really?
Indeed! So basic function and no in Blender :(
So basic reading is hard when number is in different place on screen?
what? Show me where in blender displayed count of actions. I'm not about 3d viewport
