Too much tab nesting!!
I find many of the new changes to the interface leading to LESS productivity and speed. In particular as in the title there's too much tab nesting. Scrolling a bit is way faster than having to click at least two times for everything. Take Caustics as an example... There are literally 2 options in there; Is it really needed to tab those and others like? I think some well visible separators would be fine in many cases or a completely new system would be better. We don't want to become unreadable and unusable like Zbrush, do we!?

Once its open it will stay open unless you close it. You can always open all the subtabs and save it as your startup file. I do like the idea of collapsing everything you don't usually touch. Having to scroll all the time for unnecessary stuff is even worse.
I dont like it either, it is compleatly unecessary and just makes things harder to find. At least have a way to force lock all of them open by default after the first level.
First things first : are you talking about Tabs or Pannels ?
As you talk about caustics and two clicks, I guess it's actually panels.
Do you have any objective data to backup on that? A lot of people wouldn't agree with that statement.
Actually, most of what you're saying isn't the feeling of everyone.
Also, I think you misunderstand some points.
• The open/close state of panels is only defined by your startup settings.
The only things missing are quick controls like we used to have before 2.8, i.e. the way to open/close every tab with <kbd>Ctrl</kbd><kbd>LMB</kbd>.
• By their own nature, Panels are not just visual separators (we shouldn't even use panels for that, color areas or simple shapes like horizontal bars without user interactions would do the job much better). They also allow you to display/hide UI elements and sort them as you wish, may this be according to what you need.
This indirectly leads to a precise control over how efficiently you use your screen-space, as well as the amount of scrolling you need to do on a regular basis. Once you opened/closed your panels according to your usage, you have to scroll only among the things you need all the time.
Panels nesting only gives an extra level of control. Nothing more, nothing less.
The only actual issues are that as of today, there is no way to control all the panels quickly enough. No <kbd>Ctrl</kbd><kbd>LMB</kbd> to close non-clicked tabs, <kbd>LMB</kbd> drag doesn't not affect tabs on different levels, ...
Hopefully, this will be fixed at some point. At best it could be enhanced. But how? That is the question...
@loic.dautry: I get what you mean. At this point I would like to delete this topic but I can't, from mobile at least.
Not sure this function exists yet.
But why would you delete this topic ? Let other people see it and think about it. Maybe some nice ideas will come out of it.
@levitosio: You should be able to delete your own topics. Do you see an Edit Post link? Click that and you should be able to delete.
This is a complex problem that requires a somewhat universal design as it hits every part of Blender's interface.
Unfortunately, it's full of trade-offs and compromises, so simply saying "make it better" isn't sufficient as a proposal. Please include mock-ups of your well-though-out solutions so the rest of the community can see them and discuss them.
