Blender navigation behaves unpredictable sometimes

Hi, With the default settings “orbit around selection” and “depth” turned off the viewport is supposed to rotate around a small area somewhere infront of the camera.

However it seems like sometimes the rotation becomes unpredictable like that point around its rotating changes somehow. This happens almost always when you do some crazy rotations by just zooming out and rotating around then zooming back.

It happens quite often when working on a big scene and its quite annoying because the the camera just becomes different and unpredictable. Just something I never had with any other 3d software.

One way to fix this is use the frame selected command or center pick command to refocus.

By disabling "Zoom to mouse position" the issue becomes a bit less noticeable as well but it is still possible to repro the same way.

I work most of the times with "auto depth" on so I dont have the issue but when working without auto depth I think this is a bug and would be nice if it could be fixed.
