Zbrush MicroPoly in Blender?

So for those that don't know, Zbrush's new MicroPoly feature tiles 3D Geometry (MicroPoly) onto a Mesh to produce Cloth weaves and such. Cloth simulation can be applied before and after.

I think Blender can replicate this by Modifying/Upgrading the Array Modifier to work on a Mesh like it would on a Curve.

What do you guys think?

The tissue addon should just be implemented as a modifier

Well I guess it did in geometry nodes

* @Ge Ro * Tissue Add-on seems to be destructive and non realtime. My proposal would be a Non-destructive solution that uses instances.

* @jascrambles * I agree that we need a more interactive solution. Tissue lets you iterate in non-destructive way and modify the tile distributed, the supporting surface and distribution properties, but you need to refresh it manually from the Object data tab/ Tissue.

* @jascrambles * it is possible for square patches. Array + surface deform. Or wrapping addons.

people do this in cycles, where displacements ccan be created in multiple ways.

* @peter.boos * Micropoly ain't displacement, its actual geometry.
