Idea about DopeSheet Selection (UI)
I've been working with grease pencil...and dealing with layers. I was thinking that maybe something could be done about the way layer selection is drawn.

Yeah, some visual channel segmentation would be nice. It's VERY easy to loose yourself and even loose the global keys.
