The grease pencil interpolation tool needs to be reassessed.

I don’t know where else to put this. Grease pencil’s interpolation tool functions in only one way: It moves points from one location to another in a straight line. This would be fine, except it doesn’t account for strokes bending or morphing in specific ways. The a-to-b movement thing also means that strokes get demented or violated when you use ctrl + shift + E, so the result is that we have to manually interpolate the strokes and frames ourselves, defying the point of even having the tool in the first place. Is there any way to get someone to look at the tool and figure out how to solve this? I can’t figure out how else to describe the problem.

Note: I tried pointing this out elsewhere, but they just sent me here instead. I'm not all that confident that the problems expressed here will get solved when they are too vast in number. The second problem is that I do not have technical knowledge or expertise in order to reach out to or tell the relevant part of the blender dev team what to do to assess the problem I've just assessed. Maybe that would explain why the interpolation tool has gone largely unchanged for so long, but at that point, what would replace it? I'm posting this in the low hopes that the relevant part of the team hear this and at least begins considering or deliberating a fix to this problem because, from where I stand, we have the technology to make this work. I can't suggest changing the line types for point movement, and I also can't suggest it spawning and despawning points out of nowhere to help match the movement as that might need too much computing power and won't solve the problem. I'm not just out of ideas regarding this problem, I'm out of patience being given a tool that only functions and nothing else, meaning it doesn't really help, it's like being a security monitor instead of a security guard because you only monitor problems instead of fixing it. To add to this, the VFX suffer the same problem: They cover the entire object instead of layers or maybe even layer folders.

You can't tell me to make an add-on or extension, and you also can't tell me to use Serpens to achieve this: Not only don't I know what I'm doing, even if I did, I'd need more time trying to solve the problem than it would take for someone more knowledgeable to solve it and maybe a little more, which is why I'm complaining here, aside from that my thread in Blender Artists was closed and I was redirected here. I'd like to think I'm not the only one who feels this way. Someone, anyone, either please assess this problem or reach out to someone who can because it won't be me.

Yeeeah.. i agree😅. Umm basically the best way to get it to work most of the time is to 1) make the layer as simple as possible 2) Uncheck 'Use Selection'

It's such a useful function ( when it works) . I just wish it was 100% everytime. Not a gamble. i would consider it semi broken since grease pencil 2.

And the messed up thing is the functionally to make it work is already in blender through geometry nodes ( that i don't know how to do) .
