Particles using SubUV or Flipbooks (Image Sequences)

After seeing how fast a fire can be made using pre-made flipbooks in Unreal I was thinking we could have something like that in Blender for realistic fast rendering effects. Current Mantaflow and Particles is way too slow IMO. It can be used for rain splashes on the floor and probably other stuff.

You can see it here in action.

If this is already possible can anyone point it out, please?

They can easily put on hold developing any ideas suggested if it is being revamped. I think the suggestion itself could stay just to see what people think. The idea of using image sequences sounds like you could do some of stuff but using particles would be a much more versatile way. Maybe once they have the everything nodes going with particles the idea of using image sequences could be possible but bear in mind the flipbook or SubUV uses a single image and not an image sequence. Not entirely sure which one would be cheaper. * @Zach Hixson * * @Craig Jones *

Particle suggestions should probably be put on hold for awhile, as the entire system is being revamped to be node based. A lot more stuff like this might not be planned, but could work off the bat just due to the way node systems tend to work.
