Simpler baked textures

TL, DR: Add the option to cut textures from multiple files and combine them into one, based on UV Maps.

Details: I have a model, using 3 different image textures for its different pars, which I wanted to combine into one image. I tried using baking them into a new UV Map...

1-st attempt: I used Smart UV project to create the UV Map - I got a nightmarish UV map, with thousands of individual triangles spread across the Map and some of the textures were overlapping.

2-nd attempt: I manually added seams and unwrapped my UV Map. It took a while, but this time I had more normal looking UV Map, with no overlapping textures. I baked them, and while the Diffuse looked fairly normal, the Normal map was a nightmare - made the object look glitchy. I went to photoshop to remove the "noise", but then it still didn't look right, and I did also remove some of the details along with the glitchy stuff.

3-rd attempt: I went to Photoshop, while also having Blender opened. I opened each of the textures I'm using, looked at the UV Map in blender, and cut the parts I was using, and added them to a new Image file, while keeping their relativity to each other. Then I used this texture in Blender, and adjusted the scale and position of the UV Map to fit it.

The 3-rd attempt worked perfectly. I even managed to add 3 more textures, I was using in other objects into the same file. The file, containing the 6 texture parts is of 2k quality, which is the same as my biggest pre-cut texture.

But it was very time consuming... Could we get the option for Blender to do this for us? Namely - create a new UV Map, by scaling, rotating and moving the different islands of the existing UV Maps onto a new UV Map, and then copy-pasting the values from the original textures into the new one, instead of trying to calculate how stuff should look and creating a brand new texture this way...

EDIT: I actually saw this post code.blender.org/2022/02/layered-textures-design/ And I really hope that they will introduce the proposed functionality. They do mention improvements to baking and baking textures into a single file, but I can't be certain that it will work in the proposed way, which I think is the most useful for people making models for games.
