Lattice auto-positioning, auto-alignment and auto-scaling

Hi,

I'd love to see the assignment of the Lattice modifier being improved by automatic positioning, automatic alignment and automatic scaling to the mesh(es) you want to deform, as well as automatic Lattice modifier assignment to all selected objects.

Right now you can select the mesh, then select the Lattice cage and press Control + P, but you always need to manually scale, move and rotate the Lattice cage, then add a Lattice modifier for each object you want to deform, which is an unnecessarily tedious and time-consuming process for a modifier that's such a useful and important part of Blender's toolset.

In case of multiple selected objects, the lattice orientation could get the average of the local orientations.

There's a free Lattice add-on called SimpleLattice I'm using for the time being. Maybe it could be merged into the Blender Master build.

Thanks!

Could I suggest that the lattice would be created covering the current selection. If nothing is selected it spawns as usual. But select one or multiple objects and the lattice would spawn as a bounding box. It could even have an option to align orientation

There's an add-on called Fast Lattice. Haven't tried it in 2.8 yet. blenderartists.org/t/addon-fast-lattice-0-6a/677541/80

@mike.r.bermudez: Thanks. I know it, but I think it isn't right having to buy a separate add-on for something so essential.

@Metin Seven: It's free. There's a github link at the top.

My studio is transitioning from Maya and Max to blender, and it was such a shocker that the lattice is so complicated compared to autodesk packages (or even zbrush). It's really weird that the lattice (a super important tool in our modelling workflow) doesn't fit automatically to the object I want to deform, creating a separate lattice object and scaling it and positioning it manually is such a hazzle :'(
