Rotate canvas in grease pencil mode.

One of the best features in 2d animation software such as opentoonz and Toon Boom animate is the ability to rotate the canvas as though it was an animation disc as used on a traditional animation desk. See animation-studio-stuff.blogspot.com/2009/05/purchasing-animation-disc.html for an explanation.

The feature is needed since when drawing an arc with a pen tablet it is only possible to get a good curve in the region from 3 o'clock to 12 o'clock. This is because artists use a movement of their wrist to produce such a curve, however it is anatomically impossible to orient your wrist to produce a curve in other positions. Therefore if the canvas can be rotated on a 2d plane then the drawing can be positioned in the ideal place for producing optimal curves.

This feature should enable one to position the drawing while holding the tablet stylus in the other hand. The operation of opentoonz and toon boom is ideal. In opentoonz pressing spacebar while placing the stylus on the tablet allows east west and north south movement of the canvas. Pressing control and spacebar while pressing the stylus to the tablet (i.e left mouse click and hold) allows rotation of the canvas (animation disc).

Thanks for creating 2d features in blender.

Till version 2.80.46 we can do the rotation part by using R and pan in G and resizing using S key while in Draw mode. but sadly these are now disabled.

Shift-Ctrl Scroll Wheel does this, make sure to set the roll angle low in User Preferences. Although, this is sort of a weird thing to expect newcomers to know. I agree it should be changed to be continuous, like any other viewport motion. Perhaps their could be a special Grease Pencil keymap? Maybe users could have different camera controls in GP mode or workspace window or something?

you can already do this using the view3d.view_roll operator. It's not interactive like canvas rotation in 2D software unless you're using an NDOF device, but you can bind it to a hotkey and roll the view in whatever increment you like (by default the hotkey is shift+numpad-4)
