SMPTE Widget
With all the filmmaking being done in Blender it needs a widget to show and edit SMPTE styled time-codes in ex. the Timeline header and also for use in the strip properties, which only can show and edit frames now:
Btw. the timecode style should not only change the look in the sequencer but also in the Timeline and at the playhead.

Are you proposing to make SMPTE values editable for nudging a strip along the timeline, or slipping a strip by a change to the "Begin" value?
In other NLEs I can select a clip on the timeline (depending on mode - trim type) and nudge/slip it by a SPMTE value, or use add/minus SMPTE values. For example if I want to slip the contents of a Strip by 10 seconds, I would select the handles of a strip then press + or - 1000 (or on an Avid 10. the period auto enters 00 into the frame field). The asme goes for moving the playhead around the timeline without use of a mouse (greater efficiency).
@David McSween: Oh, I don't have the skills for coding that stuff. The thought was born on the blender.chat/channel/vse when Snu and I discussed what to do with the smpte values.
All those functions you mention would be nice to have too.
