Selected object geo info/scene objects info

Hi! It would be nice to have the following functionality in Statistics overlay (found on the top left of the 3D Viewport):

  • Ability to see separately selected object geometry info and scene's overall geometry info i.e.:

Objects 1 / 5

Vertices 20 / 400

Edges 10 / 200

Faces 5 / 100

Triangles 10 / 200

  • Choose which information lines to display in the overlay, like in 3Ds Max, i.e.:

Objects 1 / 5

Edges 10 / 200

Triangles 10 / 200

or

Objects 1 / 5

Faces 5 / 100

Triangles 10 / 200

This is very helpful information for modeler working on serious projects to clearly see all the time info on meshes. There is always certain poly/tris/vert budget we have to keep to. And it is extremely time consuming to hide all the objects except selected one to see geo info on the selected mesh. By the way 3Ds Max and Maya do have this feature and it is must have in my opinion for any serious 3D modeling software. I use Blender extensively so I feel badly the lack of this functionality.

I would prefer a dedicated scene statistics panel that does not overlay the viewport at all. It could contain all of this info and a lot more.

* @thinsoldier * It would require additional space on the screen then. And it is better to control polygons when the info is close to those polygons on the screen where you work actually.

* @victorburo * Sometimes. Other times I don't want anything overlaying my 3d view because it's distracting but at the same time I want to see a bunch of info beyond what is currently available in the info overlay.

Also, I have 2 screens so it won't require additional space on my main screen.
