Bevel fillet like behavior

So I worked a lot with cad modeling and there is a lot of nice tools cad/surfacing allows to do what polygon/subD modeling doesn't.

One big thing I saw somehow working in an addon was being able to create bevel in a dense geometry which isn't built as a subD. It's hard to explain for me but you can see in the video what I'm talking about: youtube.com/watch

Yes the mesh topology isn't nice at all but a lot of people use even crazy cad meshes in renderings cause they provide perfect surface which is for product and archviz rendering often more important than topology.

number one in the picture is where the available addon falls appart cause not enough geomety on the box object.

number two is where it can work up until the radius of the curve that creates the fillet starts intersecting and then it fails to create geometry(I guess this is the limitation of the method)

number three is where I try create standard bevel using blender but the moment the radius overlaps geometry it also breaks, here I guess it would be nice to have the possibility to autocollapse edges as the bevel grows over the meshes.

Even if it's difficult to explain without the video, please try to do so. Before and after images are a big help.

Well, what the addon does, is it creates a curve from a given edge. Then it creates tube from that curve and cuts the geometry which the curve intersects, and finaly closes the opening with a blended surface.

This is basicaly the same thing you often do in cad. create curve on edge, tubular offset, and cut surfaces.. then calculate transitional surface.

You cannot create simple bevel operation on a heavy geometry or edges from boolean operation. This addon can do that in many examples, however imperfect and slow and unstable.

The way I think it could work, is a function of normal bevel operation that also collapses near by edges as the bevel/fillet grows.

@000kitbash: I'm still not clear on exactly what it is that you're asking for here. What do you need that the add-on isn't providing?

@Jason van Gumster: So I edited the main post to illustrate, I hope I'm making sense
