Box Selection Problem(No Proper Selection)

The box selection(or circle/lasso) currently only selects the origin while it should be selecting the mesh independent of object's origin. Blender box selection doesn't allow to select the object if its origin isn't inside the selection border. If the object's origin are turned off in the viewport, the object won't be selected. It should select the object even if the origin isn't inside the box.

Demonstration of current box selection. (Blender 2.8b)

testure

this seems like a bug and not intended behavior.. have you posted it on the bug tracker to see what the devs say?

@testure: I think its a bug in 2.8 but the lasso or circle select still have to select the origin even in 2.7x versions.

@luja19: If you suspect it's a bug, then please report it on developer.blender.org . In the worst case, you'll get confirmation on whether it is or isn't a bug.

@Jason van Gumster: I have reported the bug.

I also propose to extend the behaviour in another proposal: dual selection mode

I agree that the selection box could be improved by considering objects instead of origins.

I was having this issue as well, but only in certain project files. Unfortunate the really large project file I was working on was proprietary equipment so I couldn't record my problem :(
