To be fair everyone can compile Blender. Many people just choose not to.
@Jason van Gumster: Well... Not all of us have the knowledge for compiling. I know there's the instructions, however a lot of us are only artist... :)
@Santiago Shang: Art can be (and often is) just as technical as software development. I refuse to believe the "only artist" excuse or that artists are somehow incapable of understanding how to compile software.
Now if it were phrased as, "not everyone wants to compile Blender," I'd believe that. :)
@Jason van Gumster: In all fairness I've tried to compile blender and failed. Having the knowledge to do something doesn't always work. I CAN understand why the splash screen is being kept...segregated...though. It is the first thing people see after all. Thousands and thousands of videos with thousands of splash screens is a powerful thing.
Make sense since almost everything can be personalized in blender why not the splash screen. I would mind to have an option to either remove splash image or to set my own one together with usefull links to videos o new tips.
