Visual diagnostics for geometry
Right now we have a good method to see inverted normals in Overlays for all scene objects. I'd like that to be expanded to highlight other useful info:
- objects with negative scale or different than 1;
- objects without UVs or with multiple UVs
- overlapping faces
- overlapping UVs
- double edges
- Border/open edges
- Tris & n-gons

But maybe not inside current " Overlays ". At the moment in some modes " Overlays " panel is already full of settings.
In separate panel called " Analyzer " or " Diagnostic " or something else it could be even more complex and all-inclusive than you list.
ATM I am using addons (3dprint toolbox) and simple «select similar» for finding ngons 5+stars
* @ Vyacheslav * Thanks but all this in my proposal needs to run at object level, thoug edit mode whould be a plus, for complex scene evaluation. Imagine you open an environment scene that you are not familiar with, maybe it's an old project, and you need to see at a glance where the problems are. Of course part of these selections are doable with simple scripts but most of us prefer buttons and visuals :)
It would be just amazing. Good idea. I would like to add to your list highlighting border edges and maybe triangles and n-gons
* @borschberry * Done!
Maybe quads with a >~170 degrees angle would be good to show too?
* @Vik * Something like a tension shader? I think there is an addon for that. Of course the list can be improved with all kinds of specific data. But I think it should be focused on scene evaluation for at least the critical stuff before you move to uv, texturing, animation or export.
* @Vik * It was under Mesh Analysis but currently it drawing is missing (and they are aware of that).
