Add optional, sortable "Change Date" column to Outliner
This proposal is to add an optional Change Date column to the Outliner, with the ability to sort by that column. This would need to be a DateTime.
This will come in very handy in many situations:
-
It would make it easier to continue changes where I left off. (I do a lot of modeling for 3-D printable droids - which part was I working on last???).
-
If I could sort with the most recently changed objects at the top, then many operations like booleans would be much faster, as the objects would be close together in the outliner, easier to find!
-
If I have multiple versions of different objects in a file, which was the latest? Yes, I use version numbers extensively, but a date would be better in some circumstances.
-
A Change Date column would show me which objects I have not yet updated.
-
A Change Date column would also be useful for reviewing/removing old obsolete objects.
I am thinking this Change Date would be updated when the mesh was updated. Older objects (before this feature was implemented) would have a blank Change Date.

Yes, it would need to be optional, and doing it with an addon as Vyachaslav said makes sense, if an addon is allowed to modify the columns in the outliner.
oh boy, more junk in the outliner! you get my vote so long as it's an option that is off by default and i never have to see it :P
Blender file save it`s state. So the last is seleected or even in edit mode. Now you can use library-workflow: Main file with links. Files with parts.
I do not think date-data is 3D-data. But there is alwaus custom data can be attached. And I see here an area for addon, that authomatically edit this property and can sort list with this. Not only date and time, but versions or any other.
