Add a render queue or something to do batch render

I know you can use a little code to do this, but it would be best if I have a option to load projects in the compositor or another window and program to do a batch render with multiple files and output. I work in a studio and this is a feature that i miss the most in blender, since I need to render multiple shots and projects at once.

I've written an addon that does exactly this if you are interested: blendermarket.com/products/render (sorry for the sameless plug :) )

Yes, your addon should be included by default. Furthermore, it should support versionning.

We'd should be able to do the following:

  • Add the basic scene to the render queue

  • Make a modification in the scene (show a collection and add another one for example), add the modified scene to the render queue (second position)

  • Make another modification in the scene (change light position for example), add the modified scene to the render queue (third position)

  • Render the 3 different versions of the scene.

Don't you want your addon to be included by default in Blender?

If you work at a studio I'd suggest you use Flamenco. It allows you to install 'workers' on the computers you want to render on, and control them via the Blender Cloud. We rendered the open movie projects using it and it has served us well, it got plenty of improvements recently. Read more at the website or ask #flamenco on blender.chat .

(or you could run your own instance of Flamenco, but really for $10 per month you have it already setup for you and auto-update so for a studio it's worth it).

Edit: just remembered that Blender Cloud now offers a free-trial month, so you can try it if it suits your needs.

Edit 2: Flamenco v3 can be used much more easily, installing it takes 5 minutes and you have the same render farm used at the Blender Studio.

Isn't this what Flamenco already does? I suppose that isn't built into Blender.

* @Josephbburg * No it isn't built in.

There's still batch rendering, through command lines. x)

I think this is about what the Render+ addon does. (for version 2.79 and 2.8). I think it's necessary to do it in Cinema4D (Rendering Manager). Render+ allows you to make a list of scenes and even other blend files. But it does not allow you to edit this list after clicking the "render" button. Working intensively, during the day there is an accumulation of tasks that can be conveniently added to such a list and wait for them to be ready. There is no need in rendering farm. There is a need to just throw in the ready-made scenes and files. And take the result when it is ready. I've been using Cinema 4D for 12 years and this Rendering Manager has always had a queue. I have Render+ but I hardly use it because I cannot add to the queue of tasks. I use a simple script that takes a queue from a simple text document. This text document can be changed and resave without stopping rendering.

I have instructions for Linux, I translated from Russian as much as I can: clck.ru/FdV3x

* @4dezigner * Interesting, I never considered the need to edit the queues while running the batch. I never got a feature request either. I'll take a look at implementing that

* @Diego Gangl * with this function, Addon Render+ will be the most important thing for me.
