Histogram overlay in color ramp and curve nodes - proposal
A simple yet, I think, powerful feature, similar to the one used in Gimp when working with curves and levels, that shows directly behind the interface of the color ramp node ant the color curves node, both for the shader editor and the compositor, the histogram values for an immediate feedback on the distribution of luminance per edited channel and the actual remapping of the output
An example of the proposed GUI for the RGB curves node, both for the compositor and the shader nodes

I would love this also. It makes working with curves so much easier when you actually can see what you're doing.
This would be amazing, as it also would enable visualizing the distributions of any values in your Geometry Node tree.
There could, for me, also just be a separate
Histogram Nodethat takes a histogram of all values put in, so that you do not require this relatively heavy operation for each moment people want aColor RampYes. Tthe fact that you need the VSE linked and open to get this kind of colour feedback on general shading/compositing workflows is difficult, and error prone. Compositing is that much harder without this - specially with HDR and REC.709 setups.
@ondraise15: Sorry, but how this is related to the VSE? I think (actually it's just a hope) the the color information in input to the node are known to the node
@pietrobelgioco: The VSE has the color information in it's display. Which the input nodes would be good to also have.
