Non-destructive bevel tool

Would be cool if you could make the bevel tool (ctrl B / ctrl alt B) act as a modifier, where you later on can adjust how much bevelling there should be individually for each edge or vertex that you have beveled so you can modify the original/underlying geometry in edit mode and having the bevel adapt after your changes.

The bevel modifier does get the job done, but takes a lot more time to use and requires you to use vertex groups to be able to chose exactly which vertexes or edges that should be effected, which then in some cases will require you to add extra geometry to separate vertexes with an edge connecting them which you don't want to be beveled (Which, tho might not sound too bad, when doing a lot of modelling this stacks up fast if you use the bevel modifier a lot, especially when the loop cut tool won't work)

Alternatively, maybe adding something in style with "edge groups" to Blender as well as shortcuts for adding and removing edges to/from edge groups and cycling/switching active edge group would work just as well

I guess my point is tho, for a tool and modifier being so commonly used, I think they deserve a version with the convenience of the bevel tool, and the non-destructiveness of the bevel modifier.

(If theres already an add-on that solves this is in a better then please save me an eternity and tell me about it down below <3 )

Edge Bevel Weight

You can even set it to a hotkey if you want, just bind a key to transform.edge_bevelweight

With your bevel modifier set to "weight" you can add, remove, and adjust bevels to your heart's content.
