Auto smoothing for Curve Geometry

Hey all,

I've been using curve with bevel geometry a lot lately and a feature i think is 100% a must and don't know why it's not already in blender is the ability to auto smooth curves with custom bevels.

Yes, it's good to have a real 'smooth' option based on beveled face-angles for curves. Mean-while, you can use 'Edge Split' modifier as a purpose solver. This is not a true solution, but will give similar looking result.

Curves in Blender need some work. An option such as auto smoothing is very important, especially in bevel geometry. Another annoying moment is that snapping do not work for bevel geometry.

True. But there's no option to autosmooth based on angle, like in mesh object. And you can't add weighted normal modifier to a curve.

* @Slowburn * Ahh, sorry.

* @zaharfebruary * Sorry what i said might have been confusing, i only mentioned flat shading because it's the closest thing to getting the desired look, smooth shading just makes it look like a tube lol.

Just stumbled across this, can't believe this isn't a feature yet. Especially with geometry nodes this is in my eyes a must-have.

You can however use an EdgeSplit modifier on a smooth shaded curve object, which results in the same effect and gives you a limit angle.

What you talking about? The beveled curve has ability to be shaded flat or smoth.
