Lock view
I always wanted a way to lock the view at an axis, I imagine a lock symbol is mostly transparent until you hover over it. These two quick concepts may not be the best example, but I would still find the function very useful.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you locking your current viewing angle? Mean you can't rotate/pan/scroll, or are you locking something else?
* @Karric * I imagine the OP wants to be able to lock the viewing angle. A lot of Blender artists are Maya veterans, and that is something Maya does (since even the viewport is a camera in Maya). Of course, it's annoying in Maya, but it doesn't have to be if it's implemented in Blender.
One common usage of that in Maya is, for animation, having two viewports: one "free", usually in perspective, used to move arround anything, and one "locked" in your camera view so that you can always see how your shot will look without accidentally losing the POV.
* @Josephbburg * Yeah locking the angle was the idea, I never found it in Maya, but mainly see the use in it for Blender since we have are
* @wondraknathan * grease pencil and the angle changes easier with a simple click of the middle instead of Mayas click with alt combo.
Because the brilliant developers of that software thought "hey, why not make it so they have to move the camera around to get to their tools?"
Yes, needed especially when drawing 2D with GP!
For the camera, please! Yes.
Yeah, that would be amazing to have it lock the camera to the viewport. There is a way to do that but I never remember it.
