Selection in Outliner

The currently selected object(s) in the viewport are marked with an small colored circle under the icon of the object in the outliner. In my opinion ist is not prominent enough. If the theme color of the selection in viewport and the color of the icons in outliner are likely, you see nothing anymore. If focusing the current object within the outliner using [.] (e.g. for renaming) it is important to catch one eyes! Maybe give it a bright retangle with full width (check thumbnail). My proposal would allso be compatible to multiple selections, where the last (hot) one could have additional "filled corners" for example... It is neccessary to recognize this informations in outliner at a glance, no?

I was thinking about it today! I liked your idea. Inclusive you could click on that "rectangle mark" in outliner to select/multiple select the correspond object in the viewport. I also have this difficult to identify in outliner what is selected in viewport.

rectangle maybe too much, how about making the text coloured instead?

This proposal could really use a mock-up to illustrate exactly how you think we should get added emphasis in the outliner.

* @Jason van Gumster * Shure ;-) Btw: The question I am not asking is why have there to be two different selection marks. (One corresponding to the Outliner and one to Viewport). What is the sense of them being not in sync? I believe there is one...
