Drag n Drop Modifier Stack
Ability to reposition a modifier in the stack via Drag n Drop.
This will be faster than clicking the move up or down arrow few times.

I have a working modifier drag 'n drop prototype since quite some time already... Considering that it's still the request with the most up-votes, I should probably finish it :S (as soon as time allows it)
* @Julian Eisel * when?
* @Julian Eisel * an idea not bad...well anyway is this a real subject of development? Dedicated Retopology Mode not quite important mar 2016 82 likes. drag and drop modifiers very important ^^ more 300 votes. real subjects stay buried
* @Julian Eisel * It's been a while since your response. Any updates?
.
DONE
Congrats Hans Goudey, William Reynish, and Julian Eisel!
Yep. Definitely agree wth that. The current system is a pain when large stacks need to be reordered. Top request for me...
any update on this request ?
I'd rather the effort go towards node-based modifiers myself.
Modifier nodes are basically being implemented with [object nodes](developer.blender.org/diffusion/B/browse/object_nodes/ ). However, at some point it was planned that they'll stay co-existing (maybe like Cycles material nodes are presented with regular panels too). Even if this is not the case, the code could still be used for enabling drag 'n drop for constraints or game properties.
Yes, I think both ways of working would be good to have.

did you see Blender Today on Friday? It's in development!!!
Time to party!
Can't believe this isn't in yet. :p
Also on that note on modifiers, if we were able to actually copy modifiers from an object to another right in blender without needing to set it up for every object would be nice...
@sahilshahzadv: you just have to enable the "copy attributes" addon. I use it every day, very handy
Yep.
Can't this be archived or something
this can be archived right?
* @pipeliner * it's marked as "done"
I think it would also be nice for The Material/Texture/Particle etc. Menues and Constraints of cause.
Yeah, definitely an essential feature that we take for granted in other software. Current system reminds me of 2004. Modifiers would probably need a drag header or handle, since they're pretty crowded.
this is number one at RCS, what's the status?
* @momotron2000 * status is: no dragndrop, cuz nobody knows how to unravel code and where exactly inmplement dragndrop.
BUT! Everything nodes and modifier node will make modifier stack almost useless. So all bets on EN
* @ Vyacheslav * oh you are right. How can we speed up the process?
* @momotron2000 * discussions, suggestions, testing and debugging nodes (function nodes branch), money for fund, coding (if you can).
* @momotron2000 * also, there is drag'n'drop functions in other cases, like for colors or toolshelfs. So devs just do not want make bad-code workaround, and do not know how to make general drag'n'drop system for all (tabs, lists).
So the help variant — is finding crazy coder, who can dive in the deepest deeps and learn how to remake all core system to more fluent and make it fully available for drag'n'drop
* @ Vyacheslav * would be great but I dn't know how to recuit top notch developers.
Dedicated Retopology Mode not quite important mar 2016 82 likes. drag and drop modifiers very important ^^ more 300. conclusion real improvements stay buried
So, As now we know, it will not be made, but everything nodes will.
Hello, sorry for my rudeness, but i want to ask about my problem, i checked the whole internet and i couldnt find an answer. (When i press on cycles render, blender stop working instantly and crash immediatly??) If anyone have a fix for my glitch/bug please contact me.
Another way to make moving modifiers easier could be for the modifier to bring the mouse with it when the move button is clicked. So to move a modifer from top to bottom, you'd put your mouse over the move down button and click until it's there.

Pros: fast, snappy movement; no need to chase after the button
Cons: possibly confusing for mouse to move of its own accord; won't work with graphics tablets
Yeeees 👌
will there be options to select multiple objects and say, they have the same modifiers, is it possible to change that value and make it reflect across all objects that are selected?
Already possible for a long time, just use <kbd>Alt</kbd>
@loic.dautry: EDIT: OK you speak about multi change function (I thought you speak about drag&drop, sorry for this post.)
There was another request that wanted this in conjunction with all the physics properties being in the same tab, so I vote for that too
