New materials have the same name as the object
Just thought it would be nice if any time you add a new material to an object, it has the same name as the object instead of what it's like at the moment where a new material is named 'material.001'. So for example if I'm working on a model called 'door' and decide to add a material, it could be called 'Door_material.001' by default. This would just help a little more in terms of organisation and I figure it's pretty easy to implement.

This would be great for Substance Painter texturing as SP creates texture sets based on material names.
I would really like it to be like that, very good idea
Overall, I think this is a good idea. I have the feeling that in most cases, all of the materials will be named " Cube.XXX ", because based on what I've seen of other people's files, there aren't too many people that use object naming.
@dpdpforlife: Yeah if you don't rename your meshes they will be called, Cube, Cylinder, etc... Slightly better than Material.001, Material.002 but you get the opportunity to change your mesh names before creating any shaders and have everything a lot more organized.
It saves so much time 5his is a great idea
good idea, but I think the "_material" suffix is not needed, since you know it's a material and it won't clash with object name.
@dddjef: True. It can just be Door_001.
Well, even though the material can be shared among other meshes I think its a good idea so you can remember, for instance, a metal is the same as another one used in Suzzane or whatever the object name is. I actually tend to do just that for my materials so I know which is which. Having this automatically renamed to contain the object's name would be pretty cool.
