Change OBJ import default setting

Please change the default settings for obj import from split to keep vert order. No one ever needs the objects to change the order of vert IDs by import.

This seems more like a papercut to me rather than a proposal, but if you need it now it's a really simple change to a python script:

blender\2.81\scripts\addons\ io_scene_obj__init__.py line 108, add a new line so it defaults to 'OFF':

split_mode: EnumProperty(
name="Split",
            items=(('ON', "Split", "Split geometry, omits unused verts"),
                   ('OFF', "Keep Vert Order", "Keep vertex order from file"),
                   ),
            default='OFF',
            )

* @testure * Ye, might be more of a proposal than a feature request, but since there's no official place to submit one of those I figured why not. I'll try dev talk as well. Not looking for workarounds here, the defaults are wrong. Rearanging vert IDs is not something that's useful in any production environment.

Good to know how to do it though, thanks for sharing!

* @3dddan * yeah, i mean.. you could also submit a patch. I gave you the code you'd need. I don't use OBJ or know anybody who still does, so I don't really have a horse in this race.

edit: to clarify, so it doesn't sound so much like i'm trying to be an ass- when a patch is submitted, whoever submits the patch might have to defend the change. from what you're saying- it doesn't sound like anybody would disagree with the change, it's entirely likely that this is just an oversight in the script. But in the event that it did need defending, or someone had questions, it would require somebody with a position to argue to own it.

* @testure * absolutely, and don't get me wrong, really good to see how to fix stuff like this - but to be frank I suck at python (or programming in general) so I'd like to avoid the responsibility that comes with submitting changes.

I'd be happy to work on my skills and help out on the coding side, but I work in production 10-12 hours a day mostly working in the assets realm, so sadly I'm more of a user than a developer.

As much as I hate using obj, especially it being so slow in Blender, it's still a necessity when working with zbrush (the alternative being either fbx or stl, none of which seem to be any faster).

That being said, can't wait till usd becomes a more widespread standard. Exports about as fast as my ssd can write. :)

The new obj importer (Blender 3.3) always keeps the vertex order.

We never use Keep Vert Order as it joins everything in a single piece. This is deadly for above 5 mln vertices scene) But the ability of savind default preset is interesting.

* @Paul Kotelevets * Ye, good point, for some workflows that's necessary - the polygroups checkbox could do that though in the future (currently I'm not sure what it's doing). Then again, since there seem to be plans from fast IO over drag and drop to asset management I expect things are gonna change anyway.
