Positioning of child object when changing the influence of child of constraint

When changing the influence of child of constraint, the child object tries to snap to its world or local position accordingly instead of staying where it is. I know there are few workarounds to solve that problem(manually changing the position, visual keyframing, empty parent object), but they are not too clean and take much of a time for a simple task of just picking and placing an object. As an animator, this is something that comes up too often and to use those methods all the time isn't a feasible way. Can there be a way to improve it? If there is an option either to let the object remain in its position or snap it back, it will be very helpful for animators.

Recently there was a solution introduced to this -- a button in the constraint panel for applying the constraint and setting its influence to 0.
