Link the texture back to the modifier it uses and make navigation there possible with one button click within the outliner
For example the displace modifier has the option to add a texture from within the modifier and jump to the texture with one click.
In that tab I usually set the texture, slide some sliders and then want to jump back to the correct position in the modifier stack as easily as it is to jump to the texture, what about the same link back from the texture to the modifier that uses this texture.
next to the name of the texture would be fitting. In the mockup you'd just click on (1) and magically get transported to (2) in the modifier stack.
For someone who knows what he is doing this is probably easy to implement. The hardest thing is probably getting a complete list of all modifiers that can use a texture to control modifier function and then linking them all.

What if the texture is used in multiple places?
* @Bassam Kurdali * Good question, What would blender show in the top line (2) where currently the modifier is mentioned? I suppose whatever is shown there is the destination for the jump.
I wonder if this could be the genesis of a more generalized "users " menu for any datablock, where you could click a dropdown, get a (searchable) menu and jump to a user of the datablock. Perhaps the feature could include a "last visited" default, so you could do this fast without having to search in the case of jumping back to a modifier from a texture.
Indeed it could, but you would still maybe jump to the "wrong" modifier if you wanted the same texture to be used by multiple. I think that's a good first pass - not completely perfect, but better than nothing :)
