SAVE A CLICK & A MOVE; make Subdivide "Number of Cuts" field 'hot'
Saving a clicks/mouse movement is always a worthwhile goal, if it doesn't affect workflow.
When you use SUBDIVIDE, the F9 window pops up. The cuts are already made, and an optional click dismisses the dialog.
BUT , if you want more than the default # of cuts, you must move your mouse ( SLOW! ) to the dialog, assuming it's open, click in the field, and enter a number by sliding, clicking, or entering from the keyboard. IMO that's a lot of mouse movement, and mouse movement is SLOW.
For keyboard users it would be much quicker if the "Number of Cuts" field were 'hot' (ie, active) when the Subdivide was activated. Typing in a number is quicker than mousing to the field, clicking on the increment buttons and/or sliding. Even if the F9 window is minimized, this could still be implemented.
AFAICSee, there's not a lot of downside here: a click is not strictly required to continue after the Subdivide operation*, but I bet a lot of people do it anyway, and the savings in mousing down to the F9 to enter anything other than the default is a lot of saving as these things go.
This principle could be extended to other situations where the user almost always enters something in the F9 dialog.
*(On way to accommodate this would be for any NON-numeric input into the hot field be regarded as a signal to dismiss & continue, since this is a numeric field. EG, hitting 'G' would go immediately to 'Grab' after subdividing with the default value.)

In the meantime press Shift+R.......
Basically you want dialogs that open and let you adjust settings before they're even applied (and then allow further adjustment), maya style.
